Lila Arzua, Editorial Page
Lila is a graduate student in the Columbia University School of Journalism and will get her degree in May. She graduated from Yale with a degree in Spanish and political science in 1998. From June 1998 through June 1999, she was an Editorial Board Fellow at USA Today. She was a reporter for the Miami Herald from September 2000 to August 2002. Other experience includes a Phillips Foundation fellowship (1999-2000) and a Reader’s Digest internship (1997).
Emily Badger, Sports Reporter
Emily is a senior at Northwestern University, where she majors in journalism. She has interned at the Cleveland Plain Dealer (summer 2002), the Oregonian (spring 2002), and Chicago Athlete magazine (summer 2001). She’s worked on her campus newspaper, the Daily Northwestern, since 2000, and is currently managing editor. She’s been deputy sports editor (winter 2002) and has covered football, baseball, women’s basketball and other beats.

Garance Burke, Metro Reporter, Montgomery County
Garance is a student at the University of California at Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism. She received a B.A. in anthropology from Brown University in 1997. She has been a California-based correspondent for the Boston Globe (2000-2003), a researcher for The Washington Post’s Mexico City bureau (1999-2000) and a staff reporter, assignment editor and translator for El Financiero in Mexico (1997-1999). Her freelance work has been featured in publications ranging from the San Francisco Chronicle to KidsPost.

Reilly J. Capps, Style Reporter
Reilly is a senior majoring in the humanities at the University of Colorado. While in high school, he interned for two summers for the Aurora (Colo.) Sentinel. Since then he has had internships at the Daily Oklahoman (2001) and the Boston Globe (2002), for whom he continues to work as a correspondent. He was Opinion Page editor, a reporter and a columnist of the Oklahoma Daily, student paper at the University of Oklahoma, which he attended before transferring to Colorado.

Ryan Clark, Sports Reporter
Ryan is a December 2002 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a major in print journalism. After graduation he interned at the Orlando Sentinel. Last summer he interned at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Ryan also has interned at the Baltimore Sun (2001), the Virginian-Pilot (2000) and the weekly Cadiz (Ky.) Record. He had several positions at his student newspaper, the College Heights Herald, including editor-in-chief (August-December 2001). He’s also been a stringer for the Denver Post, the Lexington Herald-Leader, the (Owensboro, Ky.) Messenger-Inquirer, the Associated Press and ESPN.com.
Rebecca Dana, Style Reporter
Rebecca is a junior majoring in history at Yale. She was a Metro intern last summer at the New Orleans Times-Picayune. The previous summer she was an intern at the Hartford, Conn., bureau of the New York Times. During her junior year, Rebecca has been editor-in-chief and president of the Yale Daily News. She previously was the newspaper’s student life reporter.
Charles Duhigg, Financial Reporter
Charles is an MBA student at the Harvard Business School. His undergraduate degree is in history from Yale. He has written freelance articles for the New Republic since 1999 and for the Cairo (Egypt) Times (1997-98). While at Yale he freelanced for the Albuquerque Tribune and wrote for the Yale Daily News. Duhigg has also attended Harvard Law School and the University of New Mexico School of Law.
Farhana Hossain, News Artist
Farhana is a senior majoring in English at City College of New York. She has been freelancing as a graphics editor for the New York Times since 1999. She interned as a researcher and reporter for the graphics department at the Boston Globe in the summer of 2001 and was a visual journalism fellow at the Poynter Institute in the summer of 2000.

Julie Ishida, Health
Julie, a second-year medical student at Stanford, is The Post’s fellow from the Kaiser Urban Health Journalism program. Last summer she covered science and health for the Sacramento Bee as a mass media fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. As a senior at UC Berkeley, she was editor-in-chief of Berkeley Scientific, a biannual journal that publishes science features and research conducted by undergraduates. She hopes to incorporate writing into her medical career.
Ernesto Londoño, Metro Reporter, Southern Maryland
Ernesto is a senior majoring in journalism and Latin American studies at the University of Miami. He spent part of his senior year traveling with the Semester at Sea program. Last summer he was a fellow at Northwestern University’s Academy for Alternative Journalism. He freelanced for the Miami Herald from March to June, 2002, and had a reporting internship and freelanced for El Nuevo Herald during 2001 and 2002. He had a reporting internship at the Buenos Aires Herald (summer 2001) and at CNN en Español (February-May 2000). He has freelanced since May 2000 for the Associated Press in Miami. He received the Miami Hurricane reporter-of-the-year award for 2000-01 and 2001-02.
Joshua Partlow, Financial Reporter
Joshua is in the second and final year of a dual-degree graduate program at Columbia University. He has received a master of science in journalism (2002) and will receive his M.S. in international affairs from Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs this spring. He has a B.A. in environmental sciences and policy from Duke University. Last summer Joshua interned at the Buenos Aires Herald. At Duke he edited the Commons, the university’s only undergraduate environmental publication.
