The Washington Post Newspaper in Education Program
About the NIE Program

The NIE Curriculum

"Inside The Washington Post" is the curriculum that forms the core of the NIE program. It is designed to fit into any school curriculum, from kindergarten to senior high school. "Inside The Washington Post" can be used for any subject and level of achievement and can reinforce critical thinking and communication skills. The integration of topical newspaper articles and features into the school curriculum helps students explore the reading and writing process and opens up new avenues to language arts, science, history, mathematics as well as civics and government.

Teacher Training

We don't just drop the newspaper and curriculum in front of the teachers and leave. No, in addition to classroom materials and newspapers, The Post's NIE program provides workshops, one-on-one training and classroom demonstrations for teachers using the program.
