Italian Culture and Language Fellowships

The Washington Post, the Embassy of Italy and The National Italian American Foundation extend a unique educational opportunity to school principals and supervisors of foreign language programs of public school districts and private schools in the greater Washington area. This initiative is particularly timely in view of the recent approval of Advanced Placement Program in Italian, to be administered for the first time in May 2006.

Sponsored in cooperation with:
Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Washington, D.C.

Six fellowships will be awarded to area school principals (grades K-12) and supervisors of foreign language programs of public school districts and private schools with an interest in introducing Italian studies in their school or school district. The fellowships include a 10-day summer program organized by the Embassy of Italy/Education Office, at Italy’s finest schools and universities, with lectures on the Italian school system and culture, cultural events, most meals, lodging, transportation and instructional materials.

The Washington Post is committed to helping schools provide exceptional learning environments and conducting programs that encourage and recognize excellence in education in the Washington metropolitan area.

We are especially pleased to conduct this program in cooperation with the Embassy of Italy/Education Office in Washington, D.C.
