Elizabeth W. Putnam,
Fauquier County Public Schools, is the principal of Margaret M. Pierce Elementary School. Mrs. Putnam began her career in education in 1973, when she joined the Fauquier County Public School system as a fourth grade teacher at Coleman Elementary School in The Plains, Va. After teaching at Coleman, she moved to P.B. Smith Elementary School in Warrenton, Va., where she taught fifth grade for one year. From 1974 to 1980, Mrs. Putnam was a kindergarten teacher at Northwestern Elementary School in Marshall, Va. In 1980, she became the assistant principal at Mary Walter Elementary School in Bealeton, Va., where she remained for 10 years. In 1990, Mrs. Putnam assumed her current position. She holds a BS degree in early childhood education from Radford University in Radford, Va. and an MS degree in school administration and supervision from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va.
