Edgar T. Markley,
Loudoun County Public Schools, is the principal of Broad Run High School. Dr. Markley began his career in education in 1966, teaching career units to seventh graders and counseling grades seven through nine at Kent Junior High School in Palmer Park, Md. From 1969 to 1977, he was a counselor for grades nine through twelve at Glenelg High School in Glenelg, Md. In 1977, Dr. Markley was named assistant principal at Howard High School in Ellicott City, Md., where he remained for three years. From 1980 to 1987, he was named the assistant principal at Mt. Hebron High School in Ellicott City, Md., and was promoted in 1987 to principal where he remained for six years. In 1993, Dr. Markley became principal of Centennial High School in Ellicott City, Md. He joined Loudoun County Public Schools in 1996 when he assumed his present position. He holds a BA degree from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pa., an MEd from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Md., and an EdD from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
