Barbara Eddy,
St. Mary°s County Public Schools, is the principal of Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary School. Mrs. Eddy began her career in education in 1975 as a classroom teacher at Stafford Elementary School in Stafford, Va. She was a classroom teacher from 1977 to 1979 and in 1979 she took time off to raise a family. In 1982, Mrs. Eddy returned to her career as an educator and served as a classroom teacher at Leonard Hall Jr. Naval Academy in Leonardtown, Md., where she remained for two years. She joined the St. Mary°s Public School system in 1984, as a classroom teacher at Lettie Marshall Dent where she taught for 10 years. From 1994 to 1996, Mrs. Eddy was a resource teacher at Oakville Elementary School in Mechanicsville, Md. and at Dynard Elementary School in Chaptico, Md. In 1996, she was appointed acting principal of Oakville and named principal in 1997, a position she held for five years before she assumed her current position in 2003. She holds a BS degree in elementary education from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va.
