The Washington Post and the Center for Nonprofit Advancement believe efficient management of nonprofit organizations maximizes the level and quality of service rendered to the communities in which they serve.

This annual award was first presented in 1995 to recognize area nonprofit organizations that demonstrate outstanding management achievements and encourage innovative strategies in the management of their organization.  The first place award carries a cash prize scholarship* valued at nearly $12,500. A $2,500 cash prize is granted to each of the honorable mentions.
