The Washington Post joins hands with local groups each year to
recognize outstanding community service by groups or individuals.
These annual awards include:

The Fairfax County Citizen of the Year Award, presented in cooperation with the Fairfax County Federation of Citizens Associations |

The Washington Post Award for Distinguished Community Service, presented at the Helen Hayes Awards, saluting individuals and organizations that encourage and support the local theatre community |

The Washington D.C. Children's Book Guild Award, presented to an author for contributions through a body of work to children's nonfiction |

The award for the best newsletter by a member of the D.C. Federation of Civic Associations

The Washington Post Award for Excellence in Nonprofit Management, presented in cooperation with the Washington Council of Agencies, for outstanding achievement and innovative management by an area nonprofit agency
